Jungli Jaigad Trek

There are several forts named Jaigad and from that two Jaigad forts are situated in the same Ratnagiri district but one is a coastal one an other is located in a dense Jungle. The fort on the coast is recognised as Only "Jaigad" and the second one which is located in dense forest is known as "Jangli Jaigad" after its location.
Jangli Jaigad is one of the most interesting Jungle treks where we get to see real dense forest. This forest is part of Koyna WLS which is now part of Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. The forest around this fort acts like a wildlife corridor between Koyna and Chandoli forest.
Though Jangli Jaigad as a fort doesn't have much attraction, its location itself i extremely beautiful. We can get excellent view of Dense Jungle, Koyna Dam back waters, Kumbharli Ghat and the water body created by discharge of Koyna hydro electricity project stage 4 discharge. Practically we stand on the mountain which carries the stage 4 underground pielines. Trek is categorised as easy grade difficulty but medium grade endurance.
