Bhitarkanika National Park : It is a national park located in the Kendrapara District of Orissa in Eastern India. The park is home to the endangered Saltwater Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus), white crocodile, Indian python,King Cobra, black ibis, dartersand many other species of flora and fuana.

The national park was created in September 1998 from the core area of the Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary, which was created in 1975.The sanctuary is the second largest mangrove ecosystem in India.

Chilika Lake : It is the largest wintering ground for migratory birds on the Indian sub-continent. The lagoon hosts over 160 species of birds in the peak migratory season. Birds from as far as the Caspian Sea, Lake Baikal, Aral Sea and other remote parts of Russia, Kirghiz steppes of Mongolia, Central and southeast Asia, Ladakh and Himalayas come here. These birds travel great distances; migratory birds probably follow much longer routes than the straight lines, possibly up to 12,000 km, to reach Chilika Lake.

Route from Bhubaneshwar (For Bhitarkanika)

Day 1: (28 Dec 12) Reach at Bhubaneshwar at 4:30 a.m. arrival at Bhubaneshwar proceed to hotel. Breakfast and proceed to nandan kanan at 9:00 a.m.

Day 2: (29 Dec 12) Nandan Kanan site seeing at leave for Rajnagar at 4 p.m. Arrival at Rajnagar and halt for a day.

Day 3: (30 Dec 12) Start journey for Bhitarkanika by Boat at 6:00 a.m. Arrival at rest house by 10:00 a.m get settled, lunch, post lunch tour of mangroves.

Day 4: (31 Dec 12) Boat ride in Bhitarkanika (morning and evening).

Day 5: (1 Jan 13) Return boat ride, visit to Konark temple and then proceed to Chilka.

Day 6: (2 Jan 13) Chilka boating (bird island + Barrier), and back to bhubaneshwar.

Day 7: (3 Jan 13) Morning free in Bhubaneshwar.
