Giant meterwave Radio Telescope alias GMRT Study Tour
Description
Giant meterwave Radio telescope which is popular with its shorter name GMRT is one of the best organizations in world working in Radio Astronomy. Though there are now several bigger size radio telescopes elsewhere in the world, when GMRT was founded, it was the largest Radio Telescope in the world. It is situated in Village Khodad near Narayangaon off Pune-Nasik highway. A man can see in a visual range. His own eyes are limited to that range. But the universe is not restricted to only visual light. It has wide sprectral band.It has emission right from Gamma rays/X-rays which has extremely small wavelength to radio waves which has very large wavelengths. Each type of emission carries some information about the object in universe and in order to understand the universe it is extremely important to check data from each bandwidth. GMRT specifically works on Radio waves with waveleghths as big as severa meters and thats what the name is dervied from. To amateur astronomers this is a pilgrim place. TREKDI and Astronomica is organizing a study tour to this place which will make you understand something more about our universe and put another dimension to your knowledge
