Chandan Vandan Forts Trek
Description
Chandan and Vandan are the Dual forts just off the satara road. The basic purpose of these forts is to guard and keep watch on the route going to Satara. As soon as you cross the Khambataki ghat you descend down in fertile planes of Wai on banks of Krishna river. This area being fertile was traditionally very important from the economical point of view and hence became important politically too. The forts Vairatgad and Pandavgad guard this area. As soon as you move south towards Satara from this place you encounter with the dual forts of Chandan and Vandan on the eastern side. Chandan Vandan are two small but beautiful forts. Both fort have climb no more than 1 hr at the most. They are connected with each other with a broad COL. The post monsoon season is the perfect time to visit these forts. The area is fantastically lush green and excellent visibility too which is hard to get in monsoon season. This trek is ideal for those who would like to visit some offbeat destination. These forts not being among the famous ones does not have many people visiting it and hence you can experience calm and quiet

SCHEDULE OF THE TREK

Meeting Time and Place Fergusson College Main Gate at 6am.
Itinerary

Day 1:
> Departure at 6.30am
> Breakfast at Shirval and proceed for the trek
> Reach base around 9.30 and then start trek by 10am.
> Reach top of Chandan by 11.30, site seeing on the fort and then back to Col, have lunch and then proceed to Vandan.
> start descending from Vandan around 4pm, back to base by 5pm. 
> With a stop over for tea and snacks, back to pune by 8.30pm

What to bring

1. Luggage packed in big good trekking sack, all luggage.
2. Complete spare set of clothes & socks (you can keep it in bus)
3. Water bottle (atleast 1.5 ltr) compulsory

5. A sweater/warmwear/rainwear (as per the weather on the trek day)
6. Good trekking shoes (sandles, chappals, floaters not permitted)
