Description
Amboli is not a registered wildlife sanctuary but there are very few places that equals the richness of Amboli. Covered with evergreen forest, Amboli is a constant surprise to nature lovers. Butterflies which are not found in rest of Maharashtra like southern birdwing, malabar tree nymph, malabar raven etc can be found in this forest. If we consider herpatofauna (reptiles) then Amboli is extremely rich. Many endemic species of skinks, geckos, lizards, snakes can be found there easily. Snakes like Pied belly shield tail, Malabar pit viper which are rare for any other forest in Maharashtra could be found in this jungle. Spotting a bird is difficult but if patience is kept then sure to see something interesting. A frog Malabar gliding frog; endemic to Malabar region can be seen in this forest and its a star attraction of this forest. Along with that there are several beautiful locations where only scenic beauty is enough to overwhelm us.

Day 4: Morning Jungle Trail. Leave Amboli after lunch, Reach Pune.
