Trek to Kurdugad - Mangad Forts

Mangad

The fort Kurdugad or Vishramgad is 90 km away from pune in the Raigad region.
At the base of the village there is Kurdai devi temple.
On Kurdugad, we can find a beautiful cave, Kokan khidki, hanuman burunj and Valley views.
One wil be fascinated to see the rock structure and rock patches.
Height of the fort is 2020 feet/ 670 meters.
Best time to visit the fort is october to february. Greenary gives you pleasure of visiting such enviornment.

Mangad
There is a temple of Goddess Vinjhai on the plateau before entering the fort. Behind the temple one can find stairs built in rock which lead us to the top of the fort and one enters the fort through a main door facing north. This doorway and the bastions are still in good shape whereas there is another doorway on the left which is in complete ruins. One can see a Nagshilpa (Snake carving) on the door’s dilapidated arch. Moving further from this doorway there is a cave which can be used for stay and a water tank. There is another water tank carved in the bastion itself.

Day-wise Schedule


1 Day 1

11.00pm - Get together at Fergusson college main gate.
02.00pm - Reach to the base of Mangad fort. Get rest for the day.


2 Day 2

02.00pm - Reach to the base of Mangad fort. Get rest for the day.
06.00am - Wakeup call. Freshen up.
06.30am - Do the breakfast at the village
07.00am - After introduction and briefing, Start ascending mangad fort.
08.30am - Reach to the top of the fort, Explore.
09.00am - Start descending from the fort.
10.00am - Reach to the base of the fort.
10.30am - Reach to the base of Kurdugad fort, Pethewadi.
11:00am - Start ascend. Explore fort, cave and water tanks.
02:00pm - Have packed lunch, Start the descend for the base.
04.00pm - reach base village, start return journey towards pune.
06.30pm - Evening tea and snacks break.
08.30pm - reach Pune, Deccan stop.
